Community Partners

About

Through the Community Partners Project, the Junior League of Abilene, in collaboration with Community Partners and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (CPS), assists in the provision of tangible resources and volunteer services for abused and neglected children and their families. The Junior League of Abilene has assisted the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) and the Child Welfare Board in the following events and programs:

Bluebonnet Room

The Bluebonnet Room is a resource for all caseworkers to access in order to meet the physical needs of families. The League provides funding and volunteers to purchase, stock and organize the newly digitized inventory. Last year, the Junior League of Abilene donated $6,000 to stock the inventory of the Bluebonnet Room, which is one of the first places these kids are taken to after being removed from their homes. CPS maintains an inventory of formula, diapers, clothing, cleaning supplies, toys, beds and other necessities that caseworkers can distribute to the children they serve.

Miracle On Vine Street

Every November through early December, the Junior League of Abilene participates in Miracle On Vine Street a program that provides Christmas gifts to children in the CPS and foster care system here in Abilene. This last December (2021), we were able to provide 360 children with Christmas gifts.
