Awards 

The Top Hand by the Texas Council of Child Welfare Boards

The Junior League of Abilene was named The Top Hand of the Year Award from the Texas Council of Child Welfare Boards for our ability to help the foster children in our area.

Business of the Year by the Abilene Cultural Affairs Council 

We were additionally honored to be the Business of the Year by the The Abilene Cultural Affairs Council’s Abilene Art Awards are given out each year to deserving volunteers from local art and cultural groups. The Junior League of Abilene was named the 2015 Outstanding Business Award for its “tremendous support of the arts in Abilene.” The Junior League has helped launch art programs in Abilene and partners annually with the ACAC for the Children’s Art & Literacy Festival. The group supports C.A.L.F. with grants and volunteers. This year, Junior League members helped with the various art activities at the dramatic readings done during the festival.

In 1956, the Junior League of Abilene became a member of The Association of Junior Leagues International, Inc. (AJLI), which began its “official” inception in Abilene. The League started out as the Abilene Junior Service League in 1948 and changed its name to the Junior League of Abilene in 1953.
